Adiantum aethiopicum – Maidenhair fern – Cyanotype Original

£40.00

This is the signed Original of a botanical cyanotype.
Image size: 5.75″x7.5″ mounted in a stylish wooden Frame: (size: 8″x10″ moulding: 2cm wide x 2cm deep) with hook and stand at the back. The image is made on matt, high quality 3oogms watercolour paper & mounted in a textured, archival, off-white mount.
Each image is completely unique and cannot be recreated as the results are quite unpredictable.
Cyanotypes are made using one of the oldest photographic techniques (invented in 1842), whereby a paper is coated with UV-light sensitive chemicals, an object is placed on top and the paper is exposed to sunlight, leaving a negative image of the object. No camera is involved and yet it is ‘light painting’ in its truest form.
Currently only shipping these framed cyanotypes within the Uk.

Description

This is the signed Original of a botanical cyanotype.
Image size: 5.75″x7.5″ mounted in a stylish wooden Frame: (size: 8″x10″ moulding: 2cm wide x 2cm deep) with hook and stand at the back. The image is made on matt, high quality 3oogms watercolour paper & mounted in a textured, archival, off-white mount.
Each image is completely unique and cannot be recreated as the results of each exposure are quite unpredictable.
Cyanotypes are made using one of the oldest photographic techniques (1842), whereby a paper is coated with UV-light sensitive chemicals, an object is placed on top and the paper is exposed to sunlight, leaving a negative image of the object. No camera is involved and yet it is ‘light painting’ in its truest sense. Upon exposure and subsequent fixing in a waterbath the chemicals turn from a yellowish-green to the characteristic blue-cyan colour, giving the process its name. For this particular type of cyanotype the paper is used wet which allows for longer exposures and a lot more colours and textures to develop.
As for all art, it is recommended to hang your image out of direct sunlight to protect the colours.

Shipping: I currently only ship my cyanotypes within the Uk. Whilst every care is taken to package the frames extremely carefully, there is a small risk to the glass breaking in transit, for which I cannot be held responsible. Postage & Packaging: £10.02 (medium parcel signed for) or you can select ‘local pickup’ if you have a PH7 postcode.  If you live in the wider area and would like to use ‘local pickup’, just leave a note in the ‘order notes’ box at checkout and I will get in touch to arrange pickup and refund any postage paid.

These beautiful images look great in pairs and small groups.
